BEING THE FISHING DIARIES OF CHRISTOPHER YATES. JUNE 1982 - MARCH 1984. A couple of small creases to fore-edge and some general light shelf-wear but still a very good first edition hardback. Signed by the author on a bookplate adhered to the title-page. Number 107 of an edition limited to 1497 copies.

Small 8vo (108 x 173mm). Dark blue cloth with illustration tipped-on to upper board, upper board and spine titled in gilt and black. Edition limited to 1497 numbered copies. Pictures show the actual copy being offered for sale. A handsomely-produced limited edition from the early years of The Medlar Press.

River Diaries covers two seasons of Chris Yates' pursuit of barbel in the rivers of Southern England. This first edition was limited to only 1497 copies, of which 97 were bound in leather. It follows on from the author's earlier book, Four Seasons, which covered his carp fishing exploits during the preceding four seasons. This diary chronicles probably the most significant phase of my angling life - a period when my twenty-one-year-old obsession with carp unexpectedly declined, to be replaced by a new addiction to a species that, before this time, I have no experience of whatsoever. The carp fisher in me was almost completely washed away by my sudden discovery of the glories of barbel.
